Overview

Los Chamos Arepas Venezolanas y algo más offers a genuine taste of Venezuela right in the heart of Laureles, Medellín. Nestled at Cq. 5 #7030, this cozy spot delivers an authentic experience that transports you through its rich flavors and welcoming atmosphere.

Their specialty is, of course, the arepas—cornmeal pockets filled with a range of savory delights. The Arepa Pabellón stands out with its tender shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains, and creamy cheese, delivering a perfect balance of textures and tastes. For those seeking a lighter, yet equally satisfying option, the Reina Pepiada combines shredded chicken, avocado, and mayo in a flavorful embrace that has become a Venezuelan classic.

Beyond arepas, Los Chamos offers cachapas—sweet corn tortillas married to quesos and a variety of meats—which add a delightful twist for those wanting to indulge further. The patacones, made with green plantain and topped with meats, cheese, and fresh pico de gallo, invite a bold, fresh crunch that complements the richer dishes. These menu highlights show a thoughtful curation of Venezuelan staples crafted with care.

The drink selection is not to be overlooked, particularly the Malta Polar and Papelón con Limón, which provide refreshing and authentic Venezuelan flavors that perfectly complement the hearty meals.

Service here is both attentive and warm, creating an inviting space for families, friends, and food enthusiasts eager to explore Venezuelan cuisine. Customers frequently praise the consistency of food quality and the genuine hospitality, making this spot a reliable choice for both lunch and dinner outings.

Despite occasional lively music that may not appeal to all, the passionate attention to ingredient quality and taste keeps diners coming back. This restaurant appeals to a wide audience—from locals craving something different to Venezuelan expats seeking a comforting slice of home.

For anyone in Medellín looking to experience Venezuelan flavors done right, Los Chamos Arepas Venezolanas y algo más is a must-visit destination. Its combination of traditional recipes, generous portions, and a welcoming environment makes it a standout in the city’s diverse culinary scene.

Took my wife and buddy here for dinner. Everyone was quite satisfied with the food and stuffed. They offer a good selection of Venezuelan dishes in various forms. One typical dish is stuffed arepas, which we all ordered. I've been a huge fan of the pabellón criolla for years. I got an arepa stuffed with this (black beans, pulled beef, cheese, and plantain). It was well stuffed and tasty. A very nice amount of filling. My buddy got a Reina Pepiada (shredded chicken, mayo, avocado). He was happy, though it tasted great. My wife got the simple shredded chicken and cheese. She enjoyed hers as well. Simple, but tasty. They have a great papelón drink (lime juice, panel, and ice water). Must try.

Best vegetarian arepa I ever had. I wish they wouldn’t have extremely loud music which one has to tolerate while best arepas are prepared.

This is one of the best arepas I’ve had and quite unlike a Colombian arepa. It was filled with juicy steak, buttery cheese, fresh toppings and delicious corn arepa. My friend got their menu del día and said he was pretty happy with that. I look forward to coming back and trying some of their other offerings

Absolutely loved the tender, juicy, delicious meat - the best we’ve had in Medellin by far. And the sides dishes were also full of flavour. Big thanks to the owner who was so attentive, helpful and flexible with some minor menu changes. Don’t miss this place - it’s soooo good!

This place is my culinary highlight of day 2 in Medellin. Sporting popular Colombian dishes with a Venezuelan twist, this comfortable Laureles spot has it all. Fresh juegos, cervesas and a multi page menu. I had the maduros con carne. A big ripe plantain sliced in half and roasted, covered with tender shredded beef and covered with queso fresco and drizzled with a creamy sauce. I love the Spanish word for wow. Guau! Lots to try here, I'll be back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

These foods were really good. Couldn’t finish everything because it was so huge. I wouldn’t sit outside next time because it was difficult to talk, easily distracted by people who present themselves but if you sit inside should be alright
